Your 2007 Chevrolet Colorado takeS5 quarts of synthetic SAE 5W-30 motor oil. If You live somewhere that gets to below minus 20 degrees often, You'll want to go to a 0W-30. While You can put conventional oil in Your Colorado, You shouldn't: It lacks the additives of a full or mixed synthetic that helps keep Your vehicle's engine running longer and happier. Also, it's less hassle, because with a synthetic, You only have to change the oil ever 7,500 miles or so, instead of at every 3k. You'll want to change the oil filter when You change Your oil; this vehicle's compatible with cannister style filters, a good choice of which is the WIX51042, which normally runs about ten bucks. Don't put more than 19 pound feet of torque on the oil drain plug when You tighten it back up.

The four cylinder requires 5 quarts, while the inline 5 engine requires 6 quarts. Very few American vehicles use inline 5 engines.
