The 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe takeS5.7 liters. When performing an oil change on the car You will first want to make sure that the vehicle has been parked and off for a couple of hours. Otherwise, the oil in the car will be very hot and You could burn Yourself. Find the oil pan in the engine compartment and locate the drain plug on the underside. Position a bucket under the plug and then remove it. This will allow the oil to drain into the pan. Let it do this until it stops dripping, which may take an hour or so. After it has finished dripping You can put the drain plug back on, then locate the intake port on the top of the oil pan. Using a funnel fill the oil pan to full, but make sure to not overfill. A little under is fine, but going over can lead to leaks and oil burn off. Once it is full close the port up, wipe up any spilt oil and You will be finished.

The 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe takes 5.7 liters (6 US Quarts). The Chevrolet Tahoe has a vehicle information button that indicates the life of the oil. You can view the oil level by pressing the vehicle information button until OIL LIFE REMAINING displays. This display shows an estimate of the oil's remaining useful life. If it shows 99% OIL LIFE REMAINING on the display, that means 99% of the current oil life remains. The engine oil life system will alert when to change the oil on a schedule consistent with the driving conditions.
