The 2008 Toyota Highlander with the 3.5L V6 engine useS6.4 quarts of synthetic SAE 0W-20 motor oil. Some compatible filters for Your Toy are the Toyota 04152-YZZA1, the FRam XG9972, and the Pennzoil-HPZ-161. If You're changing Your oil, You'll encounter 10mm and 14mm bolts, so have those sockets handy. Slide under the front passenger side of the engine, and locate the silver metal oil drain plug at the bottom rear edge of the black metal oil pan. Take off the bolts on the oil filter housing. Pull the tabs at the front edge of the plastic filter access panel to release from the engine splash shield. Put a container to catch the oil underneath the drain bolt and loosen it counterclockwise. Once the oil has drained out, screw the bolt back on and tighten it. Remove the old oil filter and put the new one on. Fill Your engine with new oil.

The 2008 Toyota Highlander oil capacity is 5.7 liters (6.0 US Quarts). The 2008 Toyota Highlander uses Toyota approved "Toyota Genuine Motor Oil" or equivalent to satisfy the grade and viscosity. The 2008 Toyota Highlander recommended viscosity is 5W-30.

5w-30 is the traditional recommended oil viscosity. In regions with colder weather the 0w-20 is the recommended oil viscosity. Synthetic motor oil is the recommended choice for this car. In regions where the weather is colder I might recommend traditional oil since it runs a bit thicker than synthetic.
