The 2009 Silverado comes in four distinct trims, each with varying oil requirements. Generally speaking however, they all have similar capacities and can hold approximately 6 quarts of motor oil. For best performance, its recommended to consult the ownership manual. This should have an exact figure of how much oil is required per model, as certain features in the higher end models may require more oil, as well as swapping of filters more often. Chevrolet recommends using a fully synthetic sae 5w-30 viscosity motor oil for optimal performance, with the recommended amount of miles between changes beinG3500 to 5000.
