The 2012 GMC Terrain was available in two different engine options so the amount of oil You need is going to depend on what motor You have under the hood. The 2.4L model will have a capacity of 5 US quarts while the the 3.0L motor is going to need 6 US quarts for a fill up. No matter which model You have they will need to use synthetic 5W-30 motor oil. The oil is going to need to be changed out in these vehicle every 7,500 miles and You can expect to spend between $100 and $130 if You take it in to a shop to have it done.

The engine oil capacity of the 2012 GMC Terrian depends on the type of engine. Models that have 4-cylinder engines hold about 5 quarts of engine oil. Models with 6-cylinder engines hold about 6 quarts of engine oil.
