The 2014 Chevy Equinox with a 2.4 L L4 engine needS5 quarts of oil while the 3.6 L V6 engine requireS6 quarts of oil. Both of these totals are the full amount when an oil filter included. The recommended viscosity to use for both of the engines is SAE 5W-30 and use of other grades such aS-10W-30 and 10W-40 are discouraged. If You're in the climate that may benefit more froM5W-20 then You're fine to make that substitution. Also if You're in a part of the country that experiences temperatures below -20 degrees fahrenheit on a regular basis it's also acceptable to use SAE 0W-30. -
