The 2021 Ford Explorer has a payload capacity of 1,433 to 1,815 pounds depending on the engine option that You chose. This weight includes the weight of the passengers in the cabin. This is pretty standard for a midsize SUV like the Explorer. If You want to be able to carry more weight in the back You will need to get a full size SUV like the Expedition since they are built on a trunk frame rather than a unibody design. The Explorer is a great SUV though for being able to carry people and all of their cargo when You are going on a trip.
