Changing the oil on a 2018 Volkswagen Passat with the 2.0 L 4Cylinder engine is pretty easy as long as You have the right tools. First You need to Jack the car up to gain access to the lower engine cover. There are eight T-20 torx screws across the front of the cover and three T-40 torx screws at the rear. Once the cover is removed You will see the drain plug at the bottom of the oil pan. The Passat has a plastic oil pan with a honeycomb pattern on the outside. The drain plug is also plastic and You'll need a Flathead screwdriver to remove it. Place a drain pan below the oil plug to catch all the used oil. As the oil drains go to the engine compartment and remove the oil filter, You will need A74.5 millimeter oil filter socket or an adjustable wrench. Remove the oil filter cartridge from the housing and install a new one. Once all the oil is drained from the engine reinsert the drain plug and fill using the approved oil.

To change the oil on a vw passat you need to remove the drain plug, remove the oil filter, replace both with new parts, and then fill oil from the top.
