Changing the transmission fluid on a 2009 Hyundai Sonata is a pretty easy process, to do it You will need to get a 15/16" or 24mm socket and a ratchet to remove the drain plug. The first thing to do is unscrew that drain plug and allow the fluid to drain into a container. After the transmission is dry You can replace the drain plug and install a new washer. Next You can located the transmission fill cap in the engine compartment and then fill it with four quarts of OEM Hyundai transmission fluid and use the dipstick to ensure that it is properly filled. Once it is full You can start the vehicle and it should run well. It is a good idea to change this fluid about every 30,000 miles.

3 questions. Is the intake spout same as the location of the dipstick and does an 08 sonata have 1 or 2 transmission filters and where are they located?

To add transmission fluid to the 2009 Hyundai Sonata park the car on an even surface and pop the hood. Locate the transmission and look for the dipstick sticking out, it will have a round o ring on the end. Pull it out and wipe it clean, then stick it back in and see were it is on the fill level. Locate the intake spout on the transmission, then insert a funnel if needed. Pour fluid into the vehicle until the dipstick show that it is full. Put the dipstick back, close the intake spout and you are finished.
