The GMC Denali comes with optional powered running boards that will automatically extend as You unlock and walk up to Your truck. That is to make it easier for people to get in and out of the truck. In general though people can get tired of this system and want to turn it off. To disable the automatic running boards put Your car in the on position with the engine off, then toggle the disable switch for the running boards within 20 seconds. This will turn off the running boards until You are ready to re-enable them. If You want to disable Your running boards more long term You can remove the fuse that goes to the motors for them.

My 2022 Sierra Denali does not have the switch where you are saying! Any other way to get them to stay out other than removing the fuse?

It is the furthest switch to the right in the row of switches above the console. Just hold it down for about 10 seconds with vehicle off but key on.
What fuse do you pull to disable step ladders mine is humming loud every 30secs .
