If You need to change the fluid in the rear differential in Your Ford F-150 it is a pretty easy process to do. There are two bolts that can be found on the differential cover, one at the top and one at the bottom. First You will need to place an oil collection pan beneath the bolt on the bottom and remove that to allow the differential to drain. Once it is fully drained You can replace the bolt. Next You will need to use either a funnel or an oil syringe to fill the oil from the top bolt. You should need about 1.5 quarts of gear oil to completely fill it.

To add fluid to a rear differential, find and take out the gear oil fill bolt. Use a pump to add the oil to the differential.

Start by securing the vehicle on a jack stand or ramps. Find the differential drain bolt, loosen and move it, and the let the gear oil to completely drain, this may take some time. Replace the drain bolt and wipe down any gear oil that might have leaked. Remove the gear oil fill bolt, and use a pump to slowly add the gear oil to the differential. Reinstall the and tighten the fill hole bolt, and then wipe any of the excess.
