To make more cargo room in the Toyota 4Runner, fold the rear seats down by following these steps. Pull the driver's and passenger front seats forward. Locate the release cord in between the seam of the bottom and back seat cushion of the rear seats. Pull it to collapse the them. They should fold over. Remove the headrests by pressing the unlock buttons and sliding them out. In newer models the headrests can be collapsed rather than removed. You can increase the 4Runner's cargo capacity to 88.8 to 89.7 cubic feet with the back seating flattened. With all seating in place the capacity is reduced to 46.3 to 47.2 cubic feet. The 4Runner offerS39.3 inches of front headroom; 38.6 inches of rear headroom and, and 34.3 inches of headroom in the third row.

To fold back seats for a toyota 4runner you should take the following steps: move the drivers seat forward to allow room for the backseat to fold down. Do the same to the passenger front seat. Grab the release cord on the bottom of the back seat cushion. Pull the release cord up so the seat cushion pivots forward. Remove the headrest by pressing the release button and sliding out the headrest.
