The 2017 Ford Escape You will have to follow these steps to find out how to properly jump-start the vehicle. The first thing You will need to do is get the proper equipment such as jumper cables, and proper safety equipment. Next, You will open the hood and find the battery on the driver's side of the vehicle. It will be under the plastic engine cover and You will have to release the plastic tabs to get underneath it. Now You will locate the positive terminal and the ground. The positive terminal will be red and You can locate a ground at any unpainted surface. You will connect the positive clamp to the positive terminal and the negative clamp to the negative terminal. Make sure You have the lights and all electronic accessories off to ensure proper charging.

Red cable positive on the+ battery post on the vehicle being boosted and the same goes for vehicle doing the boosting. Then the negative- post of the battery of the vehicle being boosted to the vehicle that is doing the boosting on the negative post

Turn off the vehicle and the other vehicle, lift the hoods and attach the jumper cables to the batteries accordingly, turn on the other vehicle and then turn on the ford escape, wait a few minutes while it runs before removing the cables
