On the Nissan Versa, You'll find a small lever below and to the left of the steering wheel, next to the hood release lever, with a fuel pump icon on it. Pulling this lever will release Your fuel tank door, and You'll then need to pull it open from the exterior of the vehicle. It's a but inconvenient at first, but You quickly get used to it. One reason for this added safety feature is to deter gasoline thieves, who may try to siphon fuel out of the Versa's tank. While this sounds farfetched, it does happen -- and at a greater rate than You might think. It also prevents ne'er-do-wells from adding foreign substances to the fuel tank, which can cause malfunction or even catastrophic failure.

The fuel filler door on the Nissan Versa is situated to the left of the steering wheel just below the instrument panel. Pull the release to open the fuel-fill panel. To lock, securely close the fuel filler panel. The fuel filler door is situated on the driver's side of the car.
