There are three ways to go about opening the trunk on the Kia Sportage. To start You can use the keys and insert them into the lock on the back of the trunk. This is the traditional way of doing this. The other option that You have is to use the button on the inside of the cab of the car. Look for the button with an open trunk icon on it. Press this and You will open the trunk. If this does not work then the fuse is bad and needs to be replaced. Finally, You can use the button on the key fob itself. This will open the trunk from range and should work even in the house. Technically there is a fourth way to do this. If You get locked inside the trunk there will be an emergency release lever near the front left of the turn, behind the carpet.

This is 100% wrong. There is no way to open a 2009 Kia Sportage rear hatch. There is no button to the left of steering wheel. There is no latch inside the trunk. There is no emergency release

To open the trunk of the Kia Sportage you will find a latch under the trunk itself and you will find a button on the main console dash to the left of the steering wheel. There will also be a latch on the inside of the trunk in case you need to open it from there.

That switch to the bottom left is for the hood not the trunk. I still have yet to find anything on the key fob or interior to open the rear hatch (on my 2023 Sportage).

There is no Keyhole on the back Hatch of a Kia Sportage. At least not on my 2013 Model?? Mine just quit working yesterday and it looks like it will be a Motored Lock acuator that is the culprit. I am trying to find out how to open it with that acuator not working??
