How to open the gas tank on a Volkswagen Tiguan?

The Volkswagen Tiguan will not have a way to pop open the fuel door from inside the vehicle and instead You will need to go outside of it and ahead to the rear passenger side. All You will need to do from here is press inward on the fuel door and it will pop open. You can now unscrew the gas cap and fill up Your vehicle.

Gas flap will not pop out. Vehicle key and lock unlock switch will not allow the flap to open when pressed. Anyone had this problem?
