To put transmission fluid in a 2004 Ford Explorer, watch: https://www.Youtube.com/watch?v=bOgs_zbzA5I The transmission fluid needs to be replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Along with fluid changes, terrible sounds will come from the transmission. Old transmission fluid will be awful to the ear. A worn out torque converter will cause a headache. The transmission is one of the most critical parts of the vehicle. You will face issues at some point. If the transmission fluid leaks, that needs to be solved quickly. Delayed shifts can cause acceleration issues. The transmission may slip. You might experience shudders. Hard shifts may arise and that is no good. There could be jerking. The gears can become stuck.

To add transmission fluid to a ford explorer, get a pump in a local auto parts store with transmission fluid and start pumping it with 1/2 quarts, then allow it to drain for two minutes and then test again to get an appropriate amount of fluid just be careful to let it drip once it reaches normal temperature.

To add transmission fluid to the 2004 Ford Explorer park the car on an even surface and pop the hood. Locate the transmission and look for the dipstick sticking out, it will have a round o ring on the end. Pull it out and wipe it clean, then stick it back in and see were it is on the fill level. Locate the intake spout on the transmission, then insert a funnel if needed. Pour fluid into the vehicle until the dipstick show that it is full. Put the dipstick back, close the intake spout and you are finished.

You want your car to be barely running hot like usually do it first thing in the morning or if the car ain't been ran all day. I find parking on a small incline helps because the only way to check the transmission fluid in a 2000 Ford explorer is from the bottom so if you have a good Jack and you can jack it up on a small incline to where when you jack it up the vehicle is still level then you crawl up under the vehicle with it running take out the center plug bolt usually a torque bit and if it pours out it is full if it runs out it's low if it drips out it's extremely normal

After I drain the transmission fluid from underneath the truck I can pour my transmission back into my truck through where the dipstick is under the hood to fill it back up right
