The Ford Ranger's headrests may be manually adjusted to suit passenger and driver preferences. To move upwards for greater height, simply pull the assembly up. The two metal poles that secure the head rest to the seat will move upwards. To push the unit back down, depress the small plastic button located at the end of the metal pole on the drivers side. Continue to push and press until the piece is lowered to the desired height or until it is flush with the seatback. To remove completely, locate a small button on the passenger side of the seat and using the end of a flathead screwdriver, depress and disengage the headrest. The button will remain indented as You slide the head rest out until it is completely removed.

To remove the headrest of a ford ranger, first make sure the seat is all the way down. Then pull the headrest up to reveal two buttons on the base. Press both buttons at the same time and pull the headrest up.

To remove the headrest on a ford ranger you need to use a small tool or paperclip to press a button that is in a hole at the base of the headrest.
