The firSTStep in replacing the rear wheel studs on Your Ford Explorer is to buy the replacement parts. Autozone sells the Dorman Wheel Stud 610-480.1 for $5 each; make sure to purchase the same number as Your tire has. I'll leave an admonishment here, but, if You hadn't over-torqued things in the first place, You wouldn't need to do this. Try to be more careful! Now, jack up Your Explorer, and take off the wheel/tire assembly. Remove the two bolts securing the brake caliper to its mounting bracket and then take the caliper off the rotor. You'll then take off the two bolts at the back of the brake caliper-mounting bracket and then remove the rotor by pulling it off. This is the fun bit: knock the stud from the hub with a hammer; humming "If I had a hammer" is optional, but suggested. Put in new stud, and replace the stuff You took apart in reverse order of how You removed it.

To replace rear wheel studs for a ford explorer you would take the following steps: use a wrench to loosen the wheel's lug bolts while the vehicle remains on the ground. Then jack up the vehicle and support it with jack stands. Remove the lug nuts and pull off the tire.
