You're going to need a wide variety of tools to remove the heater core on a 2006 Ford Freestar. They will include but not be limited to A7mm, 8mm, 11mm, and 13mm sockets. You're also going to need a T45 torxBit and several screwdriver and ratchets. For wrenches You're going to need a 15mm and a 10mm. First You need to disconnect the battery to avoid injury. You're also going to need to kill power to the supplemental restraint system. Once done put the key in the ignition to unlock the steering wheel. From here You're going to need to start takeng out the windshield washer hoses and reservoir as these will be in the way. There are going to be several bolts and more parts You're going to need to take out to finally access the heater core.
