It sounds like You want to replace the 12 volt power outlet in the cigarette lighter on Your Ford Focus. Before You go to this extreme, make sure to check if You've just got a blown fuse prohibiting it from functionally properly. First, remove the radio bezel, and then remove the ashtray. Remove the radio. Unplug the cables from the cigarette lighter and the light bulbs. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, You're going to want to press the small green plastic tab that You see visible inside of the lighter. Push this out from behind the lighter towards You. Once it's pushed out, You should be able to pry it out completely and You'll have just the plastic casing. Put the new socket into this housing, and reverse the previous procedure. Or, if You'd rather not hassle with it, You can take it into a mechanic and get it done for between $50 to $100.
