Unfortunately, You can't start Your 2004 Dodge Durango without a key, unless You had the forethought to install a keyless entry/starter system. If You did that, then You can start Your vehicle remotely by following the instructions in Your manual. However, I'm expecting that You didn't install that, and You're starting at Your Durango, hands empty, wondering what to do. Now, some folks will tell You that You can try to hot-wire it, but You'll run into the immobilizer system pretty quickly doing that; same reason, too, why You can't just have Your Dodge dealership make You a mechanical key. You'll be able to start it, but then it's going to juSTShut off, because it's not a correctly progRammed key. You're going to have to match this with the ECU, and it's going to be expensive.

To start the 2004 dodge durango without a key, cut the screws that bind the electrical component (the wire component) and the mechanical portion of the ignition switch together. Place a flat-head screwdriver into the keyhole and switch it in the same direction as the key. This is going to start your engine.

It is not recommended to start a 2004 Dodge Durango without key, it has a anti theft system. Call a locksmith to get a new key made.
