How to start Audi Q5 with key?

Using the key fob to start the Q5 is a process dependent on year of manufacture. In earlier Audi's the key is inserted into a slot in the dashboard and pushed while the brake pedal is depressed. This action will fire the engine much like depressing a start/stop button would. In later models the fob is placed or "dropped" over a symbol of a key with lines emanating from it. This symbol may be located on the right-hand side of the driver's dashboard to the right of the steering wheel. In the 2018 Q5 this symbol is printed on the right-hand side of the first cupholder in the center console. To turn the engine on, place the fob in the cupholder, depress the dash's start/stop button and push the brake pedal down. 2019 models have the symbol installed inside the center console's storage area.
