You can temporarily turn the "Check Engine" light off in a Toyota Tacoma by disconnecting the negative battery terminal depressing the brake pedal which will discharge the memory in the computer. Once the system cycles a few times, the check engine light will come back on until whatever issue is resolved. There are many reasons that could cause the light to come on, a loose gas cap, a bad oxygen sensor, defective spark plugs, a d***y mass air flow sensor or combination of any of them or other issues. A diagnostic scanner will need to be plugged into the OBD port under the dash to determine what the exact issue is.
