To turn on the interior lights in Your Ford Taurus simply press any of the switches that are next to the lights to turn them on. Your center dome light also has an auto on position. This will turn on the lights any time that the door is open. If You notice that Your lights are staying on after You close Your doors when the switch is in auto then that is a sign of a bad door sensor. When the lights stay on for a long time they could drain the battery and make Your car be unable to start so always keep an eye on them to make sure that they turn off automatically like they should.

The interior lights should have manual switches directly near them. If the dome light is staying on when the doors are closed, you likely have a faulty latch or sensor. This tricks the vehicle in to thinking the door is ajar, which leads to the light being left on indefinitely.

In my car I don't have that switch. My rear door ajar warning keeps coming on and my dome light comes on when it does and I can't get it to go back off.
