The Ford Explorer has a seatbelt alarm that that will activate whenever the vehicle is on and the seatbelt has not been buckled. If You want to defeat this alarm there is a pretty easy way to do it. First what You will need to do is put the vehicle in the on position with the engine off while the seatbelt is unbuckled. Next wait about 20 seconds until the seatbelt light on the dash goes out. Once that light is off You will need to buckle and unbuckle the belt 3 to 5 times until the light starts to flash. Once that seatbelt light is flashing the alarm chime is turned off for the car.

Insert the key and turn the power on, but do not crank the engine. There is a knob on the dash panel that toggles your trip and total odometer reading, hold and press this button until it says "odo". Turn the key off and then back on, hold the same knob for 15 seconds and then release. "B off" should show on the screen, which means that the alarm is off.
