If You are trying to unlock a Ford Escape with a slim jim I suggest that You do not do that. Using a slim jim is a good way to damage Your car and it can lead to costly repairs. A slim jim works by going down between the window glass and the gasket into the door to pop the latch. This does not really work that well on newer cars because they have electronic releases rather than a cable. A slim jim usually will just tear up the weather stripping, damage the metal frame around Your window, and scratch the glass. This can lead to water getting in Your door and causing rust and damage to the electronics in it.

A slim jim will not work well cars that have electric locks, so depending on the model of the ford escape, most of the newer car models have electric locks.
