If You want to open the back side doors on a Ford Transit Van it should just be as simple as opening any other door. You just need to press the unlock button that is on Your key fob twice and it should unlock that door then You can pull the handle and open it up. If that does not unlock Your door You can always try pressing the unlock button while holding the handle more closed to see if that will release the latch. If that does not solve it there could be an issue with the door lock mechanism or the actuator for the lock. You can determine that by disassembling the door from the inside.

In order to unlock any side doors on a ford transit, find the black knobs on the back of the sld and turn them clockwise.

I had issues with my transit door locks for over a year. It was a 9 seat minibus which I converted to a camper several years ago, insulation, cladding, fixed bed etc. I kept thinking it was the battery in the key fob that was flat but then the manual locking using the key in the door started to not work either. Sometimes it unlocked the front and the back, sometimes it didn't even unlock the passenger cab door, just the drivers door. It was an absolute nightmare. I had to drill a whole in my bulkhead to reach my hand in and unlock the inside catch on the sliding door when the rear doors wouldn't open for weeks whenever I tried. I dismantled all the doors and checked all the locking mechanisms, cleaned them etc and it still didn't work. I was leaving it in car parks unlocked and it was stressing me out. Eventually one of the sliding doors would not open even if I tried from the inside so I took it into a ford garage. They looked at it and said there are two batteries in transits (mines a 2007 model), one in the engine and one under the drivers seat which just controls the locking system. And that battery was dead! They replaced it (£140 for the battery and £100 for labour) and it works perfectly again. I'd not seen this information about the batteries anywhere when I'd looked online so now I've discovered it I'm just posting this message everywhere in the hope it'll help someone else! Such a relief it's fixed and I didn't have to dismantle anything else inside!

Everyone talks about key fobs... My transit only has keys... I had my alternator die and the battery was depleted... Now my normal lights dont work and only high beam and parking lights work... Also my sliding door wont unlock... Can someone please help... I have checked the light fuses and they are not blown... I have no idea how to fix the sliding door not unlocking... My sliding door has 2 pins and I have cleaned these and where they connect... It has a spring under the contact plate which has never had a cover on it... The unlocking issues only happened after the alternator was replaced and has not fixed itself with the battery now being full... Please help...
