When Your Acura MDX has the mute icon on the screen that usually means that it has gotten a mute signal sent to it from a connected external device at some point. I recommend trying to connect a smartphone to the USB port and control the volume on Your smartphone to see if it will unmute the screen. If that does not fix it then You will need to power off the head unit completely. To do this You will need to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes to allow the computer inside the head unit to reset. This will clear the mute signal that was sent to it and that should allow it to work like normal again.

We have had this happen twice since purchasing our MDX, the fix has been pressing the voice command on the steering wheel or making a call with the phone connected to carplay.

You need to turn the volume up or hit the mute button again.

This morning my car just displays the Mute Sc and there are no button can fix this ! Accidentally I used the voice button to talk to the car and told it to unmute!! And it did!! That’s the voice prompts button you use when you want to give the car a command !hope this helps
I'm currently in this predicament and since there is no mute button per se, I pulled over to fiddle with it. Turning the car off and disconnecting my iPhone for 3 min, then restarting the car, checking volume on FM (which worked), and then finally plugging my phone back in did the trick, and my music from my phone finally is playing again. Def hit something unintentionally to mute the system. Hope this helps.
