If Your Toyota 4Runner touch screen is not working the first thing that You should do is reset it by pressing and holding the power button until it turns off and back on. This will usually clear any reason that the head unit has frozen. If Your head unit freezes a lot I recommend checking with Toyota to see if there are any software updates available. Thee are released periodically and can remove software bugs that would otherwise make Your screen freeze up and not work. If the screen will not turn on then You should check the fuses to make sure that they are in tact and free from damage.

The first thing you can do to attempt fix a non functioning touch screen is to reset it via pulling the fuse located in the fuse box under the hood. If this does not fix it, you will have to consult a mechanic so they can diagnose any possible electrical issues.

I've gotten my stereo replaced 7 times for the touch screen but working (source button) just went out again. Just had it replaced about 3 or 4 months ago.
