If You get a check engine light in Your 2012 Toyota Camry the first thing You should do is get off the road as soon as possible to prevent extra wear and tear on Your engine. Once You are stopped You can use an OBD II scan tool to read the code that is stored in the ECU. If You have a code P1604 that means that there is a problem with the vehicle starting. Usually this is caused by a dead battery or no fuel pressure. You should first check Your battery voltage while it is resting and make sure that it is above 12 volts. If it is below that then the light most likely turned on because the voltage dropped too low.

The p1604 code refers to a problem with the engine that is not allowing it to start properly. The most common cause for this is a low battery or low fuel in the tank.
