Ford changed over to a predominantly steel body for the 2019 Ford Ranger, making the roof, doors, bedsides and bed itself out of it instead of aluminum. While the body-in-white for the cab is aluminum, the pillars themselves are steel, with boron reinforcements. Ford likely made this change to compete with Chevrolet, which mocked the F-150's impact resistance performance in 2016. Using a mostly steel exterior also can make some repairs easier when You bring in these new model Fords to the local shop.

Are there plans to change to an all aluminum body on the Ranger? I have a 2019 F150, with an aluminum body and would consider a change to a Ranger if it was all aluminum.

My 2022 xlt extended cab, only the hood and tailgate are aluminum, tested with a magnet and the front fenders are steel not aluminum

Anyone that thinks aluminum is a desirable material to make avehicle body out of,will find out how wrong they are when they have some damage to it. If it's some exotic car that the price of body maintenance or repair does t matter, then ok. For something you're going to use, especially a truck, it's just dumb.

Aluminum repairs should be performed in an area protected from steel working areas, and tools used in aluminum repair should be quarantined from steel repair tools, if you have an accident. Something ford put out 10-14.

Orlando, you’re wrong. The front fenders are aluminum as well.
