Yes, the 2017 Honda CR-V suffered from some oversight in manufacturing, resulting in shift knob button failures across a number of different 2017-18 CR-Vs. Since the supplier who manufactured the knob buttons started to use a different material, some CR-V units began to become susceptible to faulty and weak shift knob buttons. Many users reported broken and malfunctioning shift knob buttons, as this material change made it difficult for the part to retain its structural integrity when exposed to heat and humidity. As a result, the CR-Vs that used this material were all inherently flawed, with users reporting extreme difficulty in shifting the vehicles gears. In 2019, Honda announced a recall of models affected by this issue.
