Three is an active recall for the armrests in the front door panel for the 2014 and 2015 Ford Explorer. This recall was issued because there is a faulty spring in the door trim paneling and that can cause the armrest panel to open up and get damaged while opening and closing the door. There are many recalls that are issued every year, by every vehicle manufacturer and usually they are caused by faulty parts. When a brand notices that there is an exceptional number of parts failing on a car they will issue a recall and replace the components for free using their network of dealerships. You should always get Your recalls addressed to make sure that Your car functions at its best.

Some ford explorers may have issues with the door armrest because the door armrest material may split open or degrade. However, there do not appear to be recalls due to this issue.
