Ford Flex model has a known issue concerning its water pump that sometimes causes it to flood the engine. The reason is that the water pump is built inside the engine. An actual recall has not been issued specifically for the water pump. Currently, there are just a few NHTSA Vehicle Safety Recalls regarding the Ford Flex models. Some of those concern fuel pumps, suspension, fuel system, airbags, and more. However, there is none regarding the water pump. If You find that Your vehicle has developed a problem with this part, visit Your local mechanic shop to have them order the part and replace it.

I have a 2012 ford flex..I had to replace water pump which I had to pay a ridiculous amount for
I have a 2013 Flex and it has a water leak. Ford checked the engine to see what is leaking. $199 dollars later they tell me its the water pump. They give me a quote of $2600 to replace the water pump. WHAT!! The water pump is located inside the engine. The entire top of the motor has to be removed along with the entire front of the engine needs to come off. Then the timing chain and gears need to come off the engine. Then you can get to the bolts to take the water pump off the engine. This water pump design to put the pump inside the engine is a terrible design and consumers are paying the price. Ford needs to have a recall on this hardware. 3/14 2023

I have a 2014 Ford Flex and it’s a great car. The water pump going out however was brutal. Cost nearly $3000 to fix. Can’t believe Ford hasn’t recalled it. Terrible.
I just bought my Ford Flex 2011 in April of 2022 and it only lasted till September 2022 because the water pump failed and now I have coolant mixed in with my oil in the oil pan... Extraordinaireghost@gmail.com
