The Ford manufacturer has recalled over 1 million Ford Focus vehicles equipped with the 2.0 liter GDiAnd 2.0-liter GTDI engines because of a faulty canister purge valve that was staying open. The fault code given from diagnostic tools was P1450 and the problem would cause an excess vacuum and overheat the plastic fuel tank. When driving the car it would show a malfunction indicator light or the fuel gauge would fluctuate drastically showing inaccurate fuel levels. Often times the car would stall when driving and the driver would be unable to restart the car. The fix that dealerships are doing is a reprogRam of the powertrain control module that will be able to detect the valve is open and prevent it from staying open.
