If the 2000 Dodge Dakota is having an issue with the alternator then there will be a few obvious signs. The first is that the battery is dead. While a dead battery does not always mean that the alternator is bad, a bad alternator is a common reason for a dead battery. If it has not fully died then You may notice that the instrument panel is dim, or not working right. It may even flicker and make noise. This is because the amount of power going to it is changing. Replacing the alternator will cost You between $300 to $500, including parts and labor. This is a bit pricy, but You really have no choice but to do it. If You wait and let a bad one sit then Your battery will likely be no good in a few weeks, which will cost You another $100 or so. If You want to replace it Yourself then You will need to unbolt the clamps on it and pull it out. Thankfully it is right up front and easy to get to.

If the 2000 dodge dakota is having electrical issues it can stem from a few things. Bad wires will cause power to not flow as it should, while a bad battery or alternator will cause the car to not have power. You could also have a blown fuse. All of these can lead to parts not working, or not functioning as they should.

My Dakota 3.9L automatic only gets me 200 miles on a full tank of gas. What could cause this as I replaced spark plugs. Thx
