The reason You're likely having a problem with using the push button to start Your Dodge Challenger is going to be battery related. The first battery You should care about is the one in Your remote entry key FOB. Even though You're using the push button, it needs to detect the proximity of this key, and the code that it transmits. If the battery is low in the key, the vehicle can't detect it, and there You are, no push start. To test this, try using another factory progRam key and see if You have the same issue; if so, it's a quick procedure to swap in a new 3v CR2032. The second battery is Your vehicle's: If the main battery is too low, You'll actually have intermittent issues with using the push button start: It'll take pushing the button 3 or more times before it'll start, but then it'll work fine all day, only to have trouble the next day. This typically indicates the issue is with the car battery being undercharged or getting near the end of its service life; replacing it should sort out the push button start problems, then.

I have 2014 Dodge Challenger SXT the last 5 months having problem with the push start button. When I push the start button the engine engages then shuts down and goes into the accessory mode. The car needs to be shut down and start over.

The push start button on the Dodge Challenger not working is most commonly caused by the key fob battery being low.
