The most common issue with the FIAT 500 convertible roof has to do with the roof not being able to go up or down. This is usually caused by a bad fuse or relay to the roof motor itself. If the fuse or relays are fine to the roof motor and it still is stuck in either the up or down position then the next thing You should check is the switch. These can become disconnected over time and may need to be replaced. If the switch is okay then it is possible for the roof motor to fail. This can lead to the roof being stuck in one position until You replace the motor to get it working properly again.

The most common problems associated with the convertible top on the FIAT 500 is that there are leaking roof rams and hoses and the boot lid catch sometimes won't release to access the boot area when the top is down.

Check the temperature on your dash board. Mine was showing minus 20 degrees a faulty outside temperature sensor located inside the passenger side door mirror it sticks out the bottom. It sends a signal to the body control module telling it it’s too cold to open also if there’s no temperature displayed it won’t work it’s got to make a circuit. My customer had it into the fiat main stealer who quoted around £3000 to replace body control module possibly ecu and couldn’t guarantee it would fix it I gotta complete mirror with sensor inside from a breakers for £30 fitted it the correct temperature was showing then hey presto roof worked perfect
