The Ford Transit does not particularly have any noteworthy problems with its EGR valve across various model years, at least none that I was able to find. However, that doesn't mean that Your Transit's valve will never fail; it's still important to know the signs and symptoms of a failing valve so You can take action before it is too late. Typically, leading up to a failed EGR valve, You'll experience a rough idle, poor performance, increased fuel consumption, stalling, a fuel smell, a check engine light, and increased emissions. You may also hear engine knocking. Though these can be easily confused with other potential issues, should an OBD-II diagnosis point You to the EGR valve, You should take action sooner than later.
