There have been several complaints of problems with the transmission in the GMC Savana 3500, ranging from harsh or erratic shifting and slipping, which could cause ethe engine to over rev. Most of the problems occur from improper fluid maintenance. When the fluid becomes excessively d***y or low, this could damage the transmission bands and gears. The transmission filter could become clogged and not allow adequate fluid to flow and can damage the hydraulic pump. A faulty speed sensor can also affect the shifting performance of the transmission. If You are having transmission issues, the first thing You will want to do is check the fluid level. If Your transmission fluid is low You should top it off with DEXRON®-ViATF Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid. If the fluid level is ok, a certified technician will be needed to accurately diagnose the issues.

If the GMC Savana 3500 is having issues with the transmission then you will notice several problems, including shaking or grinding while driving, a burning smell when the vehicle is on, the gears slipping when you shift, the shifter becoming stuck or non responsive, and leaking fluids. This can all lead to a transmission failure which will more or less kill the vehicle.
