The Jaguar XJ8 is known for its luxury ride, and fortunately, reliability is also at the top of the list. As such, there are no reported problems with the immobilizer occurring at a rate greater than any other vehicle. With that said, You're not immune from issues that all models face; from time to time, Your immobilizer or anti theft system may trip, and You'll need to reset. In order to do this, set the key to the ON position for 10 seconds. Move it to the OFF position for another 10 seconds. Back to ON for 10 more seconds, and back to OFF for another ten seconds. Finally, try to start Your XJ8. You can also try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes or more, but this is not as reliable as a hard reset.

Try resetting the inertia button, located by the passenger side of the dashboard (there is a fuse box there) Put key in ignition at 0. Press the button on top of the small black sensor. Change ignition to 1 and wait 10 seconds. Then start car

To reset the immobilizer on the Jaguar XJ8 you need to turn the key to the on position for 10 seconds, then the off or lock position for 10 seconds. Repeat this, then turn the vehicle on and it will be reset. If this is not working then the door will not lock and unlock and the alarm will not work right.
