There are two types of transmission problems that are commonly found in the 2000 Nissan Pathfinder. One of them is mechanical and the other type is with the computer and each exhibit different problems. If You have mechanical problems with Your transmission You will usually notice it is very noisy when running and may also make grinding noises when shifting gears. If You hear excessive noise You should check the fluid for any signs of metal damage in the fluid. The other type of problem is with the transmission control module. When this has a problem it will lead to the vehicle having delayed shifts between gears and that can lead to the vehicle feeling like it is hunting for the next gear to be in.
