Like any popular vehicle, there are some complaints about the automatic transmission on the 2002 Acura RSX. Here are a few. Occasionally, the Acura can accelerate itself, requiring repeated presses on the gas pedal to allow downshifting, or hard braking. This can be accompanied by the D4 light illuminating, and the dealer stating there isn't a problem, despite this, when You bring it in. You might encounter this as soon as 20,000 miles driven. When accelerating, the automatic gear shifting sounds rough and hesitating, as though it can't get into the gear, and happens for both higher and lower gears. This issue is supposedly remedied by having the dealer correct it by updating the automatic transmission software, but some drivers report this didn't do anything at all to fix it.
