The largest problem complaint with the 2006 Mercedes SL500 is due to hydraulic fluid leaks in the active body control system. This can be due to seal deterioration, hydraulic lines, strut leaks, pump failure and other suspension issues. This can give an uneven ride height and can cause the tires to wear prematurely. Another common issue is due to crankshaft position failure. When this occurs, the engine can stall while driving or fail to start all together. Other symptoms of a bad sensor is that the engine will run rough during idle and the fuel economy will be reduced. Some of the complaints with the SL500 are due to age related issues with parts and components reaching their end-of-life service cycle. Most of these types of issues should expected and are a part of car ownership.
