Some of the catalytic converter problems in a 2007 Mazda CX7 are check engine light on, failed emissions test, loss of engine power, sputtering when trying to start the vehicle and black smoke from the exhaust. To replace the catalytic converter You will first need to jack up the vehicle first and then locate the catalytic converter on the exhauSTSystem. You will need to remove the heat shield first and then take off the catalytic converter. Make sure when You are jacking up the vehicle that You put it in a secure spot and the ground is flat when You jack up the vehicle. The cost for a replacement will range from $150 to $300 depending ont he brand and quality.
