The most common transmission problems You'll encounter with a 2008 Lexus LS460 is that the gears sill slip when accelerating, or sometimes it'll be hard to even get the vehicle to shift. Happily, You can usually address both of these issues simply by topping off low transmission fluid, or changing it if it's become full of debris and other contaminants. As You drive, the level can eventually become depleted, and with it low, You're gonna get the issues; same if there are leaks where the fluid's escaping. More serious issues, like gear wear with the transmission, only start to manifest if You've put in a lot of miles with Your Lexus; this is not something You're going to be able to address in Your garage; You'll need to take the vehicle in. But, really, most tranny problems derive from a fluid issue, and You can sort it out simply by replacing with the proper ATF lubricant from any local vendor.
