The 2009 Mercedes-Benz R320 equipped with the BlueTEC engine has had its share of problems. A faulty temperature sensor, swirl flap motor or EGR valve can cause the engine to run poorly and prevent it from regenerating the DPF filter. The DPF or diesel particulate filter traps the soot and needs to be emptied on occasion. The computer will increase the engines exhaust gasses to burn off the soot. Other issues have been with the AdBlue tank and the fluid freezing. This happens because the tanks heater burns out. This is a costly repair ranging from $2,000 to over $3,000 if the dealer or repair shop does the job. You can replace it Yourself for under $1,200.
