As the driver of a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500, You likely want to know what, if any, transmission problems have been commonly reported for Your make and model. There have been over 60 complaints of issues with the transmission on this vehicle. They include a myriad of symptoms, from grinding noises and shuddering, to slipping gears. The most common symptom, however, is sudden surging forward and jerking while the vehicle is in operation. This can increase the risk of an accident, or injury to the driver and passengers. If the transmission needs to be replaced, it can cost between $850 and $1480 for parts alone. Labor can cost You an additional $320 to $583 or more.

Transmission will downshift at any speed, and i mean any speed 30 to 85mph ; and locking up rear end at 85mph will bark some tires. After 145,00 miles and BAD FUEL ECONOMY 14 mpg , I found the problem and no error code at the dealership . Drive by wire , accelerator to throttle body bad signal . REPLACE THE $40.00 ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND ELECTRONIC SENSOR, all one part. Stopped the acceleration problem , but since engine was broke in this way still 14mpg. So i drive my 2001 at 21mpg - 340,000 miles - 4.8LRV8.
