As the new owner of a 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer, You may be concerned about any potential problems that could occur with the controlled variable transmission. This is also referred to as the CVT. There have been relatively few reports of problems with this make and model, but if You suspect something is amiss, You can experience an array of symptoms. These can include grinding noises or vibrations from the engine bay, slipping of gears, difficulty with moving the gear shifter, and leaking of transmission fluid. If the transmission is completely failed, it will need to be replaced. This is very expensive, costing between $857 and $1479. If the trouble is low transmission fluid, it can be replaced for $5 to $25.

If the 2013 mitsubishi lancer cvt is having issues with the transmission then you will notice several problems, including shaking or grinding while driving, a burning smell when the vehicle is on, the gears slipping when you shift, the shifter becoming stuck or non responsive, and leaking fluids. This can all lead to a transmission failure which will more or less kill the vehicle.
